Lady Lucy Wolfenden does not intend to marry. She’s twenty-five, almost six feet tall, and has a secret life as a popular author, not to mention a preference for the comfort of manly clothing and an unfeminine skill with sword and pistol.

When the new Earl arrives with the assumption she’s just waiting for his return from war, her response is delivered with the same lack of finesse with which he proposes. Realizing he’s serious and offering travel and adventure, two dreams her author persona cannot resist, she agrees. A convenient marriage it is not. But oddly enough, Lucy’s skill with a sword turns out to be immensely convenient. If only Gabriel could see it that way.
